Today I read an article on the upcoming Sex and the City 2 movie in US Weekly (yes, I read US, only because Jen gets it and it's free) and I came to a number of conclusions. Mostly I want several aspects of Carrie's life. She just has such great stuff going on, so I've made a list of things she has that I must also have.
  • Her computer. I have wanted a MacBook for years, and I believe next year will be the year I can finally afford one. My own dinosaur of a computer is in need of replacement. I know Apple drastically overprices their products, but you have to admit, they are damn sexy. And after a decade of owning PCs I think it's time to give Macs a whirl.
  • Her job. I love writing! Now, I wouldn't necessarily write a sex column, but I do want to find a great subject that I love to write about and do that professionally. I think writing is the closest thing I have to a talent, and with practice I can really perfect it into a career.
  • Her body. She is just the cutest girl, and she has an amazing body. I'm not a lesbian in any way, but I just love checking her out. Her body is beautiful, especially in the fab clothes she wears, which brings me to another item of hers I want:
  • Her Dior newsprint dress. She wore this when she tracked down Natasha, the idiot stick figure, to talk to her about Big and apologizing for breaking up their marriage. Carrie looked killer in that dress. I don't own any dresses at all, but if I had her body I would definitely buy some, this one in particular.
  • Her apartment. It is just so adorable! I know it's tiny, but it's in such a nice area in New York, so la-de-da! I love everything about it, both pre- and post-remodel. I hope I can emulate some aspect of it in my own place someday. I'm definitely doing the desk by the window thing at least.

I shall add to this list if I think of more stuff, and I'm sure I will. I'll also try to post more often, in order to both enthrall and entertain you, plus for practice. This is going to pay the bills one day, after all.

I can't think of a Carrie way to end this post, which is killing me. Poo.

I am a big fan of receiving free stuff. Even if said stuff is given in commemoration of me being very, very old. Birthday presents are some of my very favorite things. I also love giving them, of course, but today's post will deal with the fabulous act of getting them. Is it better to give than to recieve? Well, that depends on what it is, haha.

I went home yesterday to pick up my mom who is finally home after over a month in Mexico, and at my house there was a package from my fabulous friend Cam. My birthday gifts had arrived at last! I read the fabulous black (of course) and hot pink birthday card, then very maturely and delicately unwrapped my package (by which I mean I savagely ripped off the luxurious metallic blue wrapping paper) to reveal a gorgeous crystal heart keychain like this one:

Except mine is purple, and therefore that much more fabulous. I have used the word "fabulous" like 4 times in this post already, I know. That's just how I roll. Anyway, I put this keychain on my car keys immediately (I hate people who have fifty keychains on their 2 keys!!! I only use one at a time.)

In a larger bundle was the biggest, boldest and awesomest purse/handbag I've ever owned. It's kinda like this one:

But mine's white. I love it. It holds all my stuff and is so big that it's easy to find what I need. Plus is just looks so dramatic and badass, like old school tattoos and Mexican folk art. (^_^)

Loving these two things (and oh yes, how I love my things) makes me realize I've been moving in a more fashion forward direction this year. I finally realized how much I really love my big blingy star charm bracelet from Icing by Claire's and how if I wear it I don't need to wear any other jewelry because it's so bold and eyecatching on its own. Fabulous. Yes, I said it again, problem??

In the sprit of fashion forwardness I've started filling wishlists on Alloy.com and Torrid.com including cute clothes with a lot less black than I'm used to, plus some actual cute and girly accessories. I still love my piercing jewelry most of all and won't change that, but I could do with some more feminine stuff in addition to it. I have a feeling I'll be blogging about a little more fashion (don't panic, I'm not becoming one of THOSE girls) in the future, just because I'm finding how fun it is to shop for and own cute things!

Until next time, love, peace, and chicken grease!

If you have ever uttered this phrase and were not 12 years old or speaking ironically, there is no facepalm big enough for the failure that is your life. People like me don't watch wrestling for the reality of it. We watch for the athleticism, the amazing things these athletes and performers do in the ring. No, they're not actually trying to hurt each other. They are trying to entertain me, and they train for years and make huge sacrifices to learn to do what they do in order to.

I am 26 years old. Obviously I don't think it's "real". That is, the punches aren't real, neither are the kicks, the trashcans are aluminum and there's a microphone under the ring to make everything sound more painful than it is. What is real is the years these guys put into their training. That's real. The bumps are real, the blood is real. The fact that most wrestling careers are very short due to repeated injuries is very real.

I notice that most people who like to point out how fake it is are people who don't watch wrestling. That's because those of us who do watch it know how it works and we know how disrespectful it is to flippantly call it "fake". It always pisses me off for people to express a solid and unwavering opinion on something they know nothing about, and the "fake" callers are exactly this. You just don't get what it's about.

I'm not gonna point out how booking goes and all that jazz because I'm not some snobby smark either. I'm just tired of people (including one of my close friends) instantly shooting out the word "fake" as soon as I mention wrestling. Watch a match. In fact, watch Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 25. Look at the indy wrestlers who work 40 hours a week just so they can bust their ass entertaining a crowd for $30 a night on the weekend. Or read about Stone Cold Steve Austin's neck injury. Watch a documentary on Eddie Guerrero. Listen to Ric Flair speak. Then decide whether or not you'd walk up to one of these guys and call their sport fake.

When I got home on Friday and checked the mail there was a letter dated August 5th from Riverside County. I had a job interview with them June 26th. Needless to say I wasn't selected for the job. Yeah, I got the picture when no one called me after two weeks, not to mention when I called them to make sure. I get it. I'm a reject. I don't need a reminder of that a month after the fact. Thank you.

Is that Chris Jericho at the top of Twitter's current trending topics list? Why yes, yes it is.

This is the awesomest thing to ever happen to a girl who's always used Windows Media Player and just got her first iPod. I'm so happy I discovered this!!! MGTEK dopisp is a plug-in for Windows Media Player that allows you to sync your music to your iPod without using iTunes! It rules!

I spent hours last night waiting for iTunes to convert my music files only to find it was saving copies of the files it converted, essencially duplicating them and taking up a huge amount of disk space. NOT cool, iTunes! My computer freaked out because I'm always low on hard drive space and needless to say I was not in a good mood when I went to bed with a full computer and an empty iPod. So today I decided I was going to find a way around this problem. I mean, it's 2009, there had to be a solution. Of course, I was right as I frequently am.

I downloaded the free trial version of MGTEK dopisp here. It's good for 30 days. I hooked up my iPod and hit the Sync tab, and voilá! WMP recognized Gaby's Purple iPod (as I named it on iTunes) immediately and I started copying my playlists in no time! It is amazingly easy, especially compared to the task of switching to iTunes and all the headaches that come with that. I have 3 playlists synched so far, and there's still 5GB of free space on the pod, woohoo! While it copied I wrote out a list of pop songs I will add, but first I'm going to find some good inspirational "Eye of the Tiger" kinda stuff to make a workout playlist with. Hurray for technology, and the nerds who make it easy for us!
